I don’t want to write, I have to write.

I love social media.  I love connecting with people all over the world about topics that mean a lot to me.  I love having virtual friends and getting opinions from people I’ve never met.  I love that it brings pictures like the one above into my life.

I was scrolling through Pinterest last night and a young man who was once interested in my younger sister and that I have only corresponded with vaguely some 5 or more years ago is someone who I follow on the site (random – I know!).  He’s basically a Pin crush of mine (and I have told him so).  (He’s how I found the picture above).

I digress.

What I realized last night is that I see an image like Miss Meat and my brain immediately wants a back story.  Who is she?  Where did she come from?  What is she going to do with that steak?  My compulsion may come out of working with various writing groups over the years and working off of prompts for sentences or short scenes turned around in a matter of minutes.  Or maybe that’s how I’ve always been.  It’s not so much creativity as it started by seeking alternative stories, endings, and scenes.  Once comfortable, my own ideas took over.

For all my recent ennui, my post yesterday highlights something positive – I have ideas.  Lots of them.  Some so big that I don’t know where to start.  For example, I was reading something recently and it gave me an idea for the Fates I and II.  Not that either book particularly needs another subplot, but I think it will give both books more depth (which is something they could desperately use).

I don’t know much, but I do love meat writing.
